The company provides a total design and supply capability for integrated process systems, and individual process packages, from front-end engineering design studies, through to detailed design, construction, commissioning and operations.

Scope of responsibilities
  • The mechanical engineer is responsible for all project mechanical design and analysis.  He/She will ensure that all mechanical design, analysis, drafting and reporting is carried out in line with DPS procedures, recognised International Standards and best engineering practice.
  • The mechanical engineer will assist with the development and training of all mechanical engineering staff.
  • Carryout mechanical engineering activity in the design & review of in-house,  client and vendor documentation including static and rotating equipment
  • Assist with structural engineering activity in the design & review of in-house,  client and vendor documentation
  • Pressure vessel/heat exchanger design and calculation checking
  • The establishment and maintenance of systems and procedures within the mechanical function, in accordance with the Company’s QA procedures.
  • Checking and Approval of mechanical specifications, reports, drawings, calculations & procedures
  • Checking and Approval of structural specifications, reports, drawings, calculations & procedures
  • Reviewing vendor document quotations from technical perspective including calculations, general arrangements, and datasheets.
  • Assist with scheduling and resourcing of project mechanical teams & activities
  • Liaising with DPS colleagues & clients on projects
  • Developing & training of DPS mechanical team
  • Reporting to engineering manager/project manager
  • Review Pressure vessel/heat exchanger designs and check calculations against international standards and clients specification (ASME VIII, TEMA, PD5500)
  • Production of mechanical handling schedules & weight estimations
  • Assist Proposals Department with manhour estimates and CTR’s
  • Checking and Approval of mechanical specifications, reports, drawings, calculations & procedures

Qualifications
  • A BEng (hons) in Mechanical engineering or closely related subject (Alternatively a HND in mechanical engineering and suitable relevant experience would satisfy this requirement.)
Experience & Competency
  • The ideal candidate shall have minimum 5 years experience in the specification and design of static & rotating equipment.
  • Experience in industrial or offshore mechanical design (incl. stress analysis)
  • Experience in mechanical project execution (incl. scheduling and resourcing)
  • Experience of International Codes & Standards including ASME & API
  • Some experience of 3rd party inspectorates such as DNV, ABS, Lloyds
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • The preferred candidate shall also have a background in structural engineering
