Scope of responsibilities
Reporting to the Proposals Manager, the Mechanical Estimator will be responsible for producing preliminary designs and cost estimates as required.
Working with client specifications as well as established industry standards (ASME,PED) the Mechanical Cost Engineer will support the proposals team by generating designs using in-house software and budgets for the main mechanical components of packaged process units and modules including:
• Pressure vessels
• Structural steel
• Pipe work
• Fabrication and assembly man-hour costing
The Estimator will work within the Company’s Sales & Proposals Department to ensure that high quality accurate proposals are the customer’s needs are met, and that the agreed sales strategy is being followed.
Qualifications
• Experience in a mechanical design field, preferably with an HND/ technical degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar relevant subject.
Must be adept in use of MS Office, particularly Excel and Word.
Experience & Competency
A well organised individual with good attention to detail . Able to put together complex material estimates, and to carry out basic pressure vessel & structural steel calculations using Microsoft Excel or equivalent. Experience in the design/estimating of mechanical equipment for the offshore industry would be an advantage.
